Amazon Blog being deleted

July 13, 2009 at 9:39 am 4 comments

My old blog ( is all but gone now.  It looks like Amazon deleted all posts older than three months, so about three years worth of posts and comments are gone.  I’m  contacting them, hoping to get them back and post them somewhere.

Interesting, if unfortunate, lesson in service outsourcing.

Yikes! I linked to some of your articles from my blog. Dang! This must feel pretty bad. I’d feel down if WordPress deleted most of my posts.

With WordPress it is possible to bring over old posts. You can set the date on them, so you can arrange them chronologically. Only thing is I imagine you have to import all of them yourself. I don’t think there’s an automated process for doing it.

Sorry about what you’re going through. Amazon should’ve told you they would do this.

Amazon did reply to me. The old blog entries are not deleted. They will reappear “in a few months”! Meanwhile, I realized that my Facebook notes have successfully subscribed to my blogs, so all my posts are available in Facebook — but not the wonderful comment threads. So, we’ll have to wait for Amazon to retrieve the rest.

I can confirm that. I checked out one of my blog posts yesterday which referenced a post you wrote in 2007, and your post is still there.
